CJC-1295 is a synthetic analog of Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone (GHRH) — the hypothalamic peptide that stimulates pituitary somatotrophs to release growth hormone. It is a 29-amino acid peptide corresponding to the first 29 residues of native GHRH, but with four amino acid substitutions that confer resistance to enzymatic degradation.
Two versions exist in research: CJC-1295 without DAC (Drug Affinity Complex), which has a half-life of approximately 30 minutes, and CJC-1295 with DAC, which covalently binds to serum albumin via a reactive maleimide group and achieves a half-life of 6–8 days. OPSEK Labs carries the research-grade base compound.
CJC-1295 acts at the GHRH receptor (GHRH-R) on pituitary somatotrophs, distinct from the ghrelin/GHSR-1a receptor targeted by Ipamorelin. This complementary mechanism is why the CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin stack is one of the most studied GH secretagogue combinations — synergistic receptor coverage produces amplified GH pulses versus either compound alone.
