Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) derived from the sequence of the endogenous immunomodulatory peptide Tuftsin. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow, Selank represents the anxiolytic end of the Russian nootropic peptide research tradition — in contrast to its more activating counterpart Semax, Selank produces calming, anxiolytic effects without sedation or cognitive impairment.
